The Art Newspaper

The Art Newspaper is the journal of record for the visual arts world, covering international news and events. Based in London and New York, the English-language publication is part of a network of titles founded by Umberto Allemandi with editions in Italian, French, Russian, Chinese and Greek.

This week, the editors present curator and scholar John Elderfield’s essay “Drawing In Cézanne,” published in the Summer issue of 1971. Through September 25, the Museum of Modern Art in New York hosts “Cézanne Drawing,” an exhibition of more than 250 works on paper by the artist. has been tracking the development of visual, contemporary, ancient and international art since 1902.
